Creating a Qwiki

Qwiki Templates

The Qwiki template functions as an online manual/guide creator, allowing users to organize content into a hierarchical structure of bundles, books, chapters, and topics. This arrangement determines the navigation structure and controls provided in the Qwiki user interface. For more details, refer to the Qwiki Arrangement documentation.

Qwiki templates are created and managed in the Templates workbench of the Workspace Control portal, which is part of the Bizcloud framework's Universal UI (Uni-UI).

To create or edit a Qwiki template:

  1. Open the Templates workbench and select the Qwiki Bundles workbook.
  2. Choose an existing template from the Bundle selector grid or create a new one by clicking the "Insert a new instance..." button (+).
  3. In the data entry form, provide a unique reference ID, title, and description for the template.
  4. Select the default "entry point" book from the bundle's book collection. This book will open first when a user accesses the Qwiki.
  5. Set the Bundle's status to "Active".

To add Books to the Bundle:

  1. Click the Books tab.
  2. Click the "Insert a new instance..." button (+).
  3. Complete the form fields using the provided hover descriptions.
  4. In the Details tab, add any external links to be included in the book's navigation menu.

To add Chapters to a Book:

  1. Click the Chapters tab.
  2. Click the "Insert a new instance..." button (+).
  3. Complete the form fields using the provided hover descriptions.
  4. In the Details tab, add information for all topic pages within the Chapter:
  • Page name (used in the URL to reference the page)
  • Page title (displayed at the top of the page when viewed)
  • Google Docs link (the public sharing link provided by Google when a document is published to the web)
  • Edit link (URL for authorized users to open and edit the document from within the Qwiki UI)

This revised version provides a clearer, step-by-step explanation of the process for creating and managing Qwiki templates, books, and chapters. It also clarifies the purpose of each component and the information required for setup.
